City Break
Kranj the capital of the Slovenian Alps and the cultural heart of Slovenia is a lively city hosting numerous events in all seasons like concerts, cultural events, exhibitions and culinary gatherings. Golden Fields Apartment is located just a short 15-minute walk from the old city center. Before tackling the sights and strolling around the city’s streets why not to drink your morning coffee in one of the little cafés in the city center.
Hiking
Kranj is surrounded by mighty, beautiful Alpine peaks and green hills and there are endless amounts of marked and unmarked mountaineering trails ranging from easy ones everyone can enjoy including young children, to demanding climbing routes for enthusiasts. For example you can hike to Mt Šmarjetna Gora (643m), it's just one hour walk from the apartment or Mt Sveti Jošt, (847m) which both are ideal for a short afternoon hike and enjoying stunning views and beautiful nature.
Cycling
You can enjoy the fantastic terrain also on two wheels. Large woods and hills make the region the perfect destination for mountain bikers and touring cyclists. There are endless kilometers of mountain bike trails in the near vicinity of the apartment, ranging from pleasant cross-country or touring up to demanding downhill trails, while a widespread network of paved roads is ideal for your road bike, including some of the most popular cycling routes in Slovenia. All of these can be accessed straight from the apartment, but there are many many more options just a short drive away, including Krvavec (15-minute drive) or Kranjska Gora (45-minute drive) Bike parks.
Winter activities
In winter, Golden Fields Apartment is a perfect starting point for your skiing holidays, being located in the centre between several of the top Slovenian ski resorts. We are just 15 minutes of driving from the best Slovenian ski resort Krvavec, 45 minutes from the Kranjska Gora ski resort, and ranging from 45 minutes to an hour and a half away from some of the most famous Austrian ski resorts (Nassfeld, Gertitzen, Katschberg, Flachau, Wagrain and Zauchensee.).
If you prefer snowy nature and long climbs, be it by foot or skis, followed by perfect powder descents or extreme steep skiing, you came to the right place. There's an abundance of back-country ski mountaineering, ski touring or ski freeride terrain in the nearby mountains, and we would be very happy to help you with planning your trips!
Even if the beautiful nature Slovenia offers does not move you, both the charming capital Ljubljana and fairy tale Bled with its famous island with a church and a medieval castle on the rock overlooking the lake are also located within a usually short, just 30 minutes drive away. Other Slovenia's famous points of interest like Kranjska Gora or Bohinj are 45 minutes and Slovenian coast a bit over an hour drive away.
Buses leave every hour on the hour from the Kranj main bus station to Ljubljana and take about 40 minutes to make the journey.
The rail connections between Munich and Zagreb connects Kranj with central Slovenia.
